Healthy Dinner Recipes for 2 – The Quest is Over

I know a lot of soon-to-be-brides out there have been on the same boat as I have, forever looking for healthy dinner recipes for 2  so they wouldn’t have to eat out all the time. Healthy eating, after all, is the key to a much longer life. And a much longer life translates to a much longer life together with the ones you love.

With the times-a-changing, there are even online companies that offer healthy recipes for dinner that you could just send for. But of course, it would make you too dependent on their service. Why do that if you could just as easily do the food preparation and cooking yourself?

I’ve been talking to Brent about my fears and thoughts, and he understands how I feel. He keeps reassuring me that everything will be fine and that our future marriage will not be dependent on how well I can prepare a healthy quick dinner. This is precisely why I’d really like to find the best possible way to learn or practice cooking a healthy dinner without me having to go to an expensive culinary school to study. I’d like Brent to be proud of me, be able to brag about my kitchen prowess (cough! cough!) to his friends and really mean it.

Then, just this morning, Brent came over on yet another Saturday morning and presented me with a box wrapped with silver wrapping paper. He whispered, “This is for you, babe. So you wouldn’t think of running away before we even get married.”

I was stunned, speechless, catatonic even. I knew there was something in that box that could change my self-image forever, because Brent had given it to me as a symbol of how he’ll always want to be by my side.

I unwrapped his present slowly, being careful not to damage the wrapping paper. Brent was watching me from opposite the center table and smiling his easy, eyes-all-lit-up smile. I knew there was something genuinely great inside that box. My instincts told me Brent had given me something that would solve all my problems in trying to find healthy easy dinner recipes he would really love to eat.

What’s so special about our relationship is that Brent and I instantly knew what the other was thinking even before he or she said it out loud. Maybe it comes from being together and sharing so many things with each other for four years and running. Maybe it comes from sharing the most private thoughts with one another, you wouldn’t know where one’s thoughts ended and where the other’s began. Or maybe it’s just because we’ve become so much an extension of each other we always knew what the other was feeling without anybody saying a word.

I knew that what was in that box would end my quest for great dinner ideas that Brent and I will share for a very long time to come. And I was right. My quest for healthy dinner recipes had finally ended.  Click here to see what Brent gave me!

Healthy Dinner Recipes – The Final Frontier

In today’s fast-driven world, finding healthy dinner recipes for 2, or for any other meal for that matter, can be very challenging. Healthy eating is man’s only protection against environmental stress and all factors that cause a great deal of damage to the human body systems.

Eating at fast food joints seems to be the easiest way to derive hunger satisfaction, but what about the fact that food served in such places is generally unhealthy, greasy and full of potential hazards as far as the ingredients go? The harried homemaker has been so hard put to prepare quick dinner recipes after a full day’s work, the temptation to just send out for pizza or open a can of corned beef is always present, and quite easily succumbed to.

Fast dinner recipes also need a little expertise in the kitchen, so that the terms used such as julienne or braise or consommé can easily befuddle the already befuddled brain of a non-cook. You can’t have a dictionary of cooking terms and a recipe book both open in front of you while you sauté or deglaze what’s in your pan.

Getting the right ingredients in the correct proportions is also one primary reason why an easy healthy dinner, or any other meal, should always be prepared at home. Oftentimes, a family can only share one single meal together—dinner. In addition, children should be served yummy recipes for dinner that will make them really finish their vegetables or eat their fish. It is now upon the home maker to think of practical and effortless ways to serve healthy dinner meals.

We get our energy from the food we eat, so it’s important that healthy easy dinner recipes do not sacrifice the caloric value of food for diet recipes that do cut down on the fat but leave the individual constantly feeling hunger pangs before the night is over. Many people work late into the night, so healthy eating should attain a balance of giving energy while being heavy on the nutrition factor.

Finally, those who prepare healthy dinner recipes for 2 should always take into consideration that the food served or partaken of must provide the requisite protection from sickness or disease. Once the body’s immune mechanisms are weak, it will be quite easy for harmful pathogens to attack. And this is the one thing that we can never do with.

By the way, here’s one of my favorite recipes.

Quick Dinner Recipes — Musings of a Kitchen Moron

In my eternal quest for healthy dinner recipes for 2, I’ve found out two things: one, they’re never easy to find and two, most healthy easy dinner recipes take a lot of effort to prepare. I’ve got a great big sister who’s always ready to help out, and a fiancé who doesn’t seem to mind whether I know what the difference is between a soup ladle and a sauce ladle, but that doesn’t mean my quest is over. No, it’s far from over.

As a future wife to Brent, I can’t perennially be dependent on restaurants to help me and my future husband get our low fat dinner recipes fix. Absolutely not!

I’ve taken it upon myself to really scour the internet bookshelves for that certain something that could not only give me and Brent good dinner ideas but also something I could easily whip up when he brings friends over, or for our future anniversaries ( and I expect lots of them, you bet!).  Brent and I have been so much in love, and I believe that if I get to walk the toque, he’s sure to love me more.

An easy healthy dinner does not have to be too difficult to prepare. Since they’re healthy, the ingredients shouldn’t take too long to cut up and put together in a greaseless pan or wok, or whatever it is they’re meant to be cooked in.

Many health food stores sell organic food stuff, but the costs may be a little too stiff for nine-to-fivers like me and Brent. We can always have a quick healthy dinner at a neighborhood restaurant, but Brent and I can’t possible have dinner out every evening. And when the kids start coming, of course, I am going to have to think up yummy recipes for dinner for everyone to enjoy at leisure.

Oh, I wish I could get a genie or something to give me healthy dinner recipes….all this has become unhealthy, and I’m going to be married in a few months! Help!

Healthy Dinner Recipes for 2 — One Cup of LOVE

It’s Saturday morning and I was having coffee and browsing the web for ideas on healthy dinner recipes for 2 at my pad when Brent texted. “Hi, Babe, comin’ over for lunch, okay? See yah!” I quickly texted back “Of course, honey. See yah! (Kiss icon)”

Switched my search options and typed in cheap and healthy recipes on my search window, came up with 20,600,000 results. Won’t do. Tried healthy delicious recipes instead, came up with 112,000,000. It was getting worse. The problem with technology is that it just won’t make searching easier, not even when you’re just searching for a recipe for lunch!! I just needed a few easy meal ideas and got stopped in mid-track with tons of ‘em.

So, I called my sister upstate and she goes, “Dana, it’s three o’clock in the morning here!” And I go, ”Ooops! Sorry big sis! Love you!”  She asks, “ Why’re you calling so early?”  I say, “Could you suggest any low fat meals for lunch? Brent’s coming over, and I need help fast!”

The good thing about big sisters is that, even when you wake them up at ungodly hours, they still love you!!! Elizabeth (yes, that’s her name) has been married for ten years, and has always been fond of collecting healthy recipes for dinner. Her husband loves what she does in the kitchen and has often obliged her with the widest collection of recipe books imaginable. Good thing, too, ‘coz they’ve got two kids, and Elizabeth’s always on the lookout for healthy dinner recipes for kids.

Anyway, she dictates a real easy recipe with chicken as the main ingredient (Elizabeth knows Brent LOVES chicken), while I was taking down everything on my post-it pad (God bless post-its and 3M!). I thank her, say goodbye, and run off to the supermarket to get what I needed.

The chicken got burned, the potatoes came out mashed—they were supposed to be BAKED! But Brent was a real darling, and kissed me hard for trying.

Now, if I can only get my hands on good healthy dinner recipes….that shouldn’t be too difficult….right??!!
